NIRF
National Institutional Ranking Framework
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a structured evaluation system introduced by the Government of India to assess and rank higher education institutions based on quality and performance. It provides a transparent framework to measure institutions across teaching, learning resources, research output, graduation outcomes, inclusivity, and public perception.
Through standardized data submission and expert evaluation, NIRF identifies strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement within institutions. The framework supports academic planning, policy formulation, and continuous quality enhancement. By publishing annual rankings, NIRF helps students, parents, institutions, and stakeholders make informed decisions and encourages healthy competition, accountability, and long-term improvement in the Indian higher education ecosystem.
